Savanna Ward Grip

Savanna is a PhD Student in the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology at RPI and joined both Prof. Sasha Wagner’s and Prof. Jake Shelley’s research groups in 2025. Originally from northwest Florida, she received a BS in Chemistry from the University of West Florida in 2015. During her time at UWF, Savanna became heavily involved in undergraduate research under Dr. Karen Molek and used SALDI and MALDI-TOF-MS for the analysis of various compounds ranging from asphaltenes to small biomolecules. Savanna’s research at RPI focuses on the geochemistry and stable isotope analysis of organic matter in the environment. When not working, Savanna likes to spend as much time outside as possible and has a variety of hobbies including kayaking, hiking, geocaching, and various fiber arts.
